Pupils accuse, Catholic church excuses
The sex abuse scandal in Fort Augustus, Scotland, escalates as a third Australian Monk has been exposed as a pedophile.
Only a couple of days after Hugh Gilbert, the bishop of Aberdeen, apologized on behalf of the church for the huge sexual scandal at Fort Augustus former Catholic school, one more person is accused of sexual abuse – Fr Fabian Duggan.
Fr Fabian Duggan is FrAidan’s brother, who was previously exposed as a pedophile in a BBCprogramme, together with FrChrysostom Alexander.
Four former children revealed being abused or witnessing abuse by FrFabian.
Kees Vogt confessed being one of them and being sexually molested by Fr Fabian in childhood. He also added that Fr Fabian used to abuse children by calling them in his narrow room under the excuse of talking to them. He would then trap them by going to the other side of the room and not letting them escape.
Kees Vogt also confessed being abused by Fr John McBride, who has already been accused by other ten former pupils. He says the reason why he did not confess being abused as a child is that the other priests would have never believed him.
After being involved in the sexual abuse scandal, Fr Francis Davidson quitted his distinguished job at St Benet’s Hall in Oxford University on Wednesday.
Fr Aidan died in 2004, after committing other abuses as a parish priest in Sydney.
Fr Fabian died Friday August 9, at the age of 83, the same day BBC submitted allegations to him and the catholic church.
After BBC’s investigation, almost 20 persons are now suspected of physical abuse, pedophilia and cover-up.
One of the victims, Christopher Walls, believes the Catholic Church apologized only because they were exposed. Child Protection director, Petter Watt, supports his opinion and says that the Catholic Church is more interested in its own reputation than in children’s protection.
